    I don’t know how those classes work. The only obedience training I had was the roughly 473 hours of detention I had at DeMatha. So my question is: do they teach the dog or are they really just teaching you?

    If you’ve ever seen the TV show “It’s Me or the Dog”, then you know it’s all about training the humans.

    It’s actually pretty remarkable how well a dog does when they have an experienced trainer. There are motions, tones-of-voice, etc. that dogs immediately understand but that it takes months for people to perfect.

    I’ve not watched that show but I think I understand. There’s an episode of Andy Griffith where Barney trains a dog to be a “search engine” (he was so far ahead of his time).
